Since the 1990s, the global electronics industry has flourished, which has attracted the attention of governments around the world. After years of reform and opening up, China's electronics industry has gradually become the "processing factory for the world's electronics manufacturing industry." In the production and recycling of electronic products and related metal products, a large amount of electronic wastewater is generated. The composition of electronic wastewater is different, and the types and contents of pollutants are also different. Basically, it contains heavy metal ions such as chromium, copper, nickel, cadmium, zinc, lead and mercury, cyanide, some acidic substances and alkaline substances. The heavy metal ions in the wastewater have the characteristics of long toxicity, non-biodegradability, and can be enriched in the living body, which makes the biological function disorder, and seriously harms the ecological environment and human health.

The electronics industry mainly covers high-precision fields such as circuit boards, electroplating/electrolysis, chips, large-scale integrated circuits, TFT/LCD processing, and semiconductor manufacturing. High-purity water is required in the production process, and high-pollution wastewater is generated, which requires reuse of water. As a supplementary water source for production water, it can achieve energy saving and emission reduction.
